How can you tell if something is real carbon fiber

Center column for a tripod. Same as THIS. How can you tell if it’s real?

You can't really tell from a picture and description. I ended up going to WEX and looking at them in person.
I went for their own brand tripod and have been very happy with it.

I wouldn’t be surprised.
Just had a quick look on Amazon and the Sirius 5c looks nice. Do I need it, no. Do i want it……. lol

Carbon fibre conducts electricity if I remember rightly, a continuity tester shoud give a reading, although it may be low. I do know fishermen using carbon carp rods used to get electrocuted on a regular basis from overhead wires. (carp poles were very long)

The page continues to say that it DOES conduct electricity so is (also) a conductor. Not as good as most metals though!

There's probably a limited number of tripod manufacturers in China producing the same item under different brand names. I believe Kingjoy is the most well known.
However I do recognise that items that come out of the same factory may have different specifications.
