Yes
Gonna scoot out and get a light tent this week and set it up. May help pass my boredom and might try and get a tan on my face too :p

How can I light it here at home? Maybe buy a couple of cheap desk lamps or what?

Note that the light here is awful at times and I only get to see daylight when I am let out of my cell or the warder comes and touches me in the dark, lighting his way with a gert big torch. :help:

We use two studio strobes either side of the tent - about 0.75 metre distance. We've also even used daylight (light source 93 million miles distant)- but that was in the summer.

You can use a couple of desk-lamps but the tent does tend to lose a bit of light - a couple of f-stops maybe

Flash gun/s offset plus reflectors may do a reasonable job if you haven't got window light ... suppose it depends what result you are looking for really ...

:p

I've recently got a light tent of ebay and i've been looking around, it seems that using daylight balanced bulbs is the best bet. Although getting non daylight balanced ones isn't a problen what with being able to change WB with digital.

I'm looking at getting a couple of the Tertial lamps from Ikea, for £5.99 it isn't bad. Well that's the cheap option, flash is probably better but a studio setup or speelites will cost hundreds. Constant light has the advantage of being able to see where the shadows will be though unless of course you have modelling lights.

Well that's my take on it from what i've been reading anyway :)

You can use any lights you like as long as they all have the same colour temp and a consistent output. That's the beauty of having a Custom White-Balance facility on out Digi Cameras.
If you use film, then it's a matter of selecting the correct film stock and filter combination.

Don't buy any lamp that has a reflector / lens as they tend to cause uneven illumination even through the walls of a tent.

Hi Pete, When you actually buy the light tent take a picture of it in its bag..

Because you will never get it back in there again...

I bought one last year and had the biggest laugh ever trying to fold it back into its original bag.. Not a chance..:help:

Some instructions here that might help you, They helped me until the bloody zip broke..:bang:

That is a great link busterboy. I was just talking about wanting to buy one of these. Hmm now to decide which size!

They are very good Renee, I like mine but folding it up again is a pain..:(

Keegan has those fold up tent things that seem to be the same sort of thing. It took a while but I've got the hang of those so hopefully that will help me in my folding of the light tent!

I purchased a 80x80cm from steve (link above) great service, also purchased the acrylic table, although not played with that yet.

He has a set of lights on there, but seem a bit pricey for 'messing around'
I got 2 lamps from argos, which i have to admit, are not great .........

I'm thinking of buying these

I ordered a couple of his 5100k bulbs and popped to Ikea this evening to get a couple of £5 angle-poise lamps to use with my light tent. Waiting to see if the bulbs are any good now!
