hi guys,

i've stitched together 8 pictures of a local mountain range, and now i am wondering two things. i have been asked to get it printed for an american relative, to remind them of home

1) where can i get my landscapes printed

and

2) how big can I get it made - i'm not looking for it to be massive, but if it could be about 2 foot long it'd be nice!

the image is:
Untitled_Panorama1copy.jpg

dimensions i have for it when looking through windows properties are:
panoramaproperties.jpg

thanks in advance

Divide the pixel size by the DPI to get actual size. Your current DPI is 72, which is fine for onscreen viewing. Up that to 300dpi for a decent quality gloss print, or 200 should be reasonable for a canvas print.

My concern would be the wonky looking telegraph cables which may look very odd on a large print. You could edit them out ot try a reshoot infront of the cables.

18006 x 3727 pixels translates to about 60" x 12" when printed at 300dpi.

thanks very much guys - it needs to be fixed a lot, that was the original stitch just upped to photobucket.

I am wondering if you shot the set on manual, or another semi automatic mode? There seems to be a few bands of light/dark, which may be due to some vignetting from your lens or exposure changes from the camera.

Unless you are going to bracket and tone map the pano, Use M mode and meter so the highlites are bright but not blown on the histogram. Then don't adjust the settings. A decent overlap between frames would minimise the effects of barrel distortion and vignetting, but means more frames to stitch together.

If possible, it may be easier to shoot again instead of lots of PP work... however the lighting and cloud structure will never be quite the same.
