I am currently in the midst of doing up our living room and with all the fresh paint work on the walls it has become how dull and laclustre the fireplace looks.
It is made of marble but not high polished like the hearth.
Its had is share of grubby kids fingers and general grime etc so I would like to give it a good clean as its a cracking focal point within the room.

Are there dedicated marble cleaning products out there or do some home concoctions work just as well?

Happy to listen to all recommendations and suggestions.
Here is the fireplace in question

You can get marble polish from granite/marble specialists.

I use Stovax Marble Polish.
You have to clean the marble first. Something like Topp's Tiles Tile and Stone Cleaner.

These products are not cheap, but cheaper than damaging the marble and having to replace it.
As usual, try on a piece that isn't seen easily first.

I would definitely only use a purpose made marble cleaner and polish. Marble is quite delicate stuff (despite appearing tough) and it stains and scratches surprising easily.

Thanks guys.
Happy to pay for the proper products as it would be nice to see it all clean again and in keeping with the fresh decoration.
