Just had my renewal through from LV= and it is about 28% dearer.

I have checked on all the usual comparison sites and can find loads of cheaper quotes but ALL the companies have some bad reviews when claims are made so it is difficult to choose. Lots of the good reviews are just about how easy it is to set the insurance up and how easily they take your money!

Like everyone else I would like to pay as little as possible for a policy which will actually deal with a claim acceptably.

About 4 years ago I had to claim from LV= for storm damage, it was just under £1000 but it was settled on the phone without me having to send them any quotes so I am tempted to pay the extra and just renew but I also wonder if there is a better deal out there somewhere.

Has anyone got reasonably priced insurance that settled claims promptly and acceptably?

Direct line - great service.

However - they do up the renewals for things, my household travel insurance was due to go from £99 to £190 so told them to stick it!

I do not recommend MoreThan, not that great on claims. Aviva was good on a fire damage claim though (the fire was next door but damaged stuff in our roof space and loft conversion with the smoke).

We've never had to make a claim so can't comment on how good the companies are at settling.

The company I was with recently put the price up from £80 odd to £285 but a comparison site got me to a price of £70 odd with Shelia's Wheels.

Just had our home Aviva renewal and up about 7% on last year, claimed a few years ago and they paid out no problem.

Car insurance is with direct line and they were good when Mrs claimed. Young lad on his push bike came down hill around a corner pretty quick, Mrs stopped but lad hit car and about £600 damage to front. Young lad was a bit shaken but ok, Mrs gave him and his bike a lift to his home and spoke to his mum, his mum said let us know repair bill and we will pay. Had a call from lads father that evening and he said they would not pay as the lad was not responsible due to his age- said he had spoken to his solicitor friend.
Direct line asked if my wife would go to court, she agreed but before case came up he agreed to pay.
Really enjoyed calling the father to thank him for the payment :)

Call LV id be surprised if they cant reduce the increase.
I did call them and during the atomatic spiel the message actually said that the quotes sent out were the best they could do.
I then got connected to a woman and said that I had checked the comparison sites and had found quite a few cheaper quotes. The woman I spoke to said "let me have a look at your quote" she then said " I can't access it at the moment I will pass you to a colleague". The man I then got said "LV quotes are the cheapest that they will offer" I said that I would be going elsewhere and he did not reply, I eventually just hung up.

ive just had my house ins from AXA up about 70 bucks
go compare and i am off to hastings, also dont forget quidco
35 bucks free money

I think it depends on who you talk to and if they need to hit their target at a certain time of the month, I wonder if you need a more senior person to give any discount . Last year I got a “loyalty discount” of £25 off when I asked if Churchill would drop their price a bit. This year the agent I spoke to at renewal time claimed that no such thing exists and refused to budge.
