Hopefully, if the weather doesn't do anything too stupid I'm going to the Hound Trails tomorrow.

Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions re settings. I know I'll need a fast shutter speed but am I best on continous autofocus and which do you think would be the best metering setting?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Going to the dogs Andrea? Know how you feel........

OK bad jokes aside you are right that a faster shutter speed will stop the action however if close to the movement try some slower speeds - they can look pretty good if more artistic than sports.

Metering at sporting events troubles everyone. You either trust yourself to the camera or if spurious highlights try and expose for them (manually) and deal with the darker areas later.

Focusing again is either auto and full servo mode or prefocus in an area and let the subject come into your field of focus and fire.

HTH.

ISO 400 or 800. Aperture priority f/4. Try shooting bursts while panning.

Well I tried. That's as much as I can say.

I'll post some photos in the sports section shortly.

Weather was a bit strange, one minute blue sky but very windy and cold, the next snowing and sleeting.

Not sure I've done them justice, but it was great fun, even if I didn't win any money!!

Thanks for the tips folks.

Andrea
