anybody using hotspot shield? tried to watch bbc online today and was presented with bbc america, world service and canada bbc sites? when tried watching itv online said i was outside of the country (uk). why is this?
 
Because HotspotShield is actually a VPN tunnel which happens to break out in the US
 
Use a different VPN provider that breaks out in the UK would be the obvious one. (Hotspot Shield is only a custom version of OpenVPN... I'm sure if you search a little you might find such a service with a UK breakout, but it might well cost you actual money to use).

I'm confused.

You're using a piece of software specifically designed to shield your identity and location, and now you're not happy that applications not available outside the UK won't allow you to access, because they don't know where you are?:thinking:
I don't know what your requirements are exactly, but I'd suggest switching off the shield when you want to watch TV on your PC.
