Hi All,

A model would like a shoot in London in a hotel room.
Has anyone done a shoot like this with other models before? Did you have to arrange anything with the hotel in advance?

wouldnt personally have thought they would need to know.... alot happens behind hotel room doors lol - but im no expert....

the only way i could see it being a prob is if you was using public space and required other guests to vacate or something....

I'd suggest contacting the hotel directly, no one here will be able to advise you as well as the hotel itself.

They may have issues if money is changing hands for the shoot, or the photos are being used / sold for financial gain.

I did a calender shoot for a fund raiser in a hotel.

Shameless plug there, not really plug as it's all done and dusted, calender for this year not next. All sold out :)

Anyway, we had permission to use the suite for the shoot, it was actually donated for the charity at the time. We were well looked after and nobody bothered us. It was better that they knew what we were up to. That said, it was 12 girls + make up artists + hair stylists + random others. All female. And one bloke [muggins here!] Might have looked a liiiiitle bit odd if we'd not informed them of the whole idea [basically it was a 'yummy mummy' theme, women who'd all had kids, just being laid back and beautiful for the day]

If it had been a one model shoot ... I'd have just booked the room, said nothing, brought the gear up in a case, they don't need to know. Once you pay for the room, it's yours for the night. People do shoots in hotels all the time. Don't make a deal about it to the hotel or they may charge you more.

I sometimes use a local country hotel for boudoir shoots. Before the first one I contacted the manager and explained what I wanted to do. He was very helpful - invited me to see several rooms beforehand and offered a special price seeing as we only needed the room for about 4 hours during the day. He charges me £30 - normal room rate is over £100 per night - and I give another £10 to the chambermaid as she has to make the room up twice and it keeps her on-side.

In return I now recommend the hotel to friends and business acquaintences :)

Hotel shoots are not at all uncommon - but well worth doing a recce on the room beforehand to make sure there's enough space for the shoot you want to do.
