Before I cleared the site which now has a greenhouse on it. used to be an open wood shelf store (see photo below)
I mean the wooden support for the water Butt, which broke twice (prevoius owner "Mr bodgets "idea I guess) so got around to to doing away with and now
the white plastic pipe was dated 1986

Ok I constructed the greenhouse, but to say what is grown in there the BOSS dictates that, and we all know that "er indoors" has the last word ;)

Would you believe that to get rid of that rubbish in the first photo together with digging out for a sub base it took 60 very large industrial type plastic bags. then came the sub base before cutting and laying the paving slabs down for the greenhouse to sit on

shows up well the wood construction " Mr Bodget made for the water Butt

ready for the 7x5ft greenhouse to fit nicely into that area

The 68mm runoff pipe is wet inside so that looks as if everything is now working ok

Seeing that reminds me I need to start asking some local ladies if I can have some of their old tights (wife only ever wore tights for work and as she has been retired over 5 years I am fast running out). I use them on the end of my downpipe that goes into the water butt at the back of my garage.

WE had heavy rainfall last night and the divertor outlet got blocked. just needed a poke with a screwdriver. Then the brain cells kicked in, in my workshop I had one of these.

It is a one way fluid extractor and fitted exactly into the butt outlet. Saved having to undo everything . had it for so many yeary i have forgotten but shows iy pays not to throw out anything

You going to make beer in that water butt? :p
i was thinking about it but the yellow plastic ducks might object as it is going to be their swimming pool ;)

Joking apart that little gadget has saved me a load of problems. It was bad enough to sealing up that divertor which was an old type to 68mm downpipes the outlet is only 19mm where as new ones are 22mm. This in turn if I had gone for a new 22mm divertor outlet that would have meant opening up the water butt inlet hole which may have not been successful and possible the cost of a new water butt and getting the right size drill bit to do it with.
that gadget fits nicely into the 19mm outlet and does the job.
Getting the lid to sit properly has been a pain in the backside as well with this one. it either has the be jugged around so it sits squae and in the right position. So I came up with this idea. Use the giraffe tape to mark lid and barrel. lot easier to get it right every time now

would have used that recess /pipe as a marker except it is not the only one on the lid

Water butt saga end at last.
Last night we actually had enough rain to fill the Butt and able to check the overflow downpipe. Had a couple of minor leaks around the joints so hopefully they are now sealed up tight.
Rain was not a heavy downpour today as I hoped, but managed to video this really exciting (cough cough) moment :ROFLMAO: (y)

Better than going to the cinema and free to watch as well
