This reminds me of a slightly weird job a friend got in the early 1970s.
He got a call from the chap who ran the local school photograpy company, asking if he could spare two hours to accompany one of the operators. It seems that they were trying out a panoramic camera and didn't want to risk losing the pictures, if the thing didn't work out. As the job was scheduled for one of their busiest days, the company had no spare operators to work alongside the "Guinea Pig" and my friend was the only local photographer they knew who had a motor drive.
So they set up the two cameras side by side, with my friend's Nikon on a panoramic head. They had a dozen or so groups to do and my friend did his best to shoot the Nikon at roughly the same speed as the panoramic camera rotated. Job done, my friend handed the films to the operator and went home to write out the invoice.
A few weeks later the cheque arrived with a cheery little note saying "Good job you were there, the panoramic jammed half way through, so we're using your shots!"
