Yes
well, here we go ;)

my rules
1. get a pic in every week, even if it's an oldie from the 'vault'
2. comment on as many of my fellow 52-ers as possible
3. make sure at least 75% of the pics I post are new
4. don't get my knickers in a knot if I can't post every week

Curves
One from the vault (too scared to drive out in the snow:shake:), taken on a p&s, no processing or cropping - just as it is.

I like the perspective on this.

i agree with the above comment!! not the usual side on shot you see! good effort!

Yep, I agree, very nice. An unusual perspective and a good curve

This works really well from the angle you've got. Makes it a lot more interesting than a full on tourist shot. Well exposed and good dof considering it's a p&s.

I like it  I like the angle you've gone for, works very well for me :)

Great composition and colours - you have placed the clouds perfectly! :D

Excellent Maria. Nice to see a different perspective of a much photographed structure.

Cheers, Rob

That is one lovely image! Fulfils the theme 100% and throws a great perspective on a much shot London icon! Exposure and colours are spot on!

Good exposure, good composition, nice image!

instead of driving out (we still have snow here , so no driving anywhere for me!) I thought I'd take a stroll round to my mums for a bit of inspiration, and I'm so happy I caught her sewing

things I've learned this week:
1. just cos it's stuff you're used to, doesn't mean you should overlook it as a subject
2. my NCFE tutor was right when he said 'M mode only' as I've not really taken any 'people' shots, and I think this one captures the something about being old and living alone, and putting your all into a hobby :'(
3. even thought I don't get on that well with my mum that well, I still love her to bits (and probably don't appreciate her as much as I should), and I have endless admiration for the beautiful handmade quilts she makes

The poem:

Sylvia Summers Pierce:
GRANDMA'S QUILT
With gentle and loving fingers
She caressed the well worn fold;'
Round each piece a mem'ry lingers
like a sweet story often told.

The pic:

I like this  well composed and well lit, makes me feel a little sad, but that's good, you evoked an emotion. If I was being critical it would be about the B/W conversion, I'd preferred a little more exposure.

thanks for your comments treeman :)

I've adjusted it a little, and also cropped it a bit too - hopefully and improvement :)

What a lovely sincere picture, well captured even though I am not a lover of balck and white, love it and the poem

Well done :D

Yep, that works better for me, if I'm being picky, I would just burn the background in a little, to make it as dark as the first one. It makes her look more isolated which helps the emotion in the picture, IMHO :)

A lovely poem and a really good photo. I prefer the 2nd one and it would be even better if the background was a bit darker

Lovely photo. Nice conversion. Spot on.

Certainly does the poem justice.!

Yes second for me too. Well thought out too.

hello Marie,
going against the trend I actually prefer the first one, it has more feeling and a touch of mystery to it; Lovely poem. The adjusted image has lost a little detail especially in the quilt.

:)

Yep, does it for me. A lovely curve.

I like to see much-photographed subjects taken from more imaginative/unusual angles - something I feel you have achieved very well.

Marie, a lovely Poem, and I'm going to go with the first picture too. Very good.

This is very nice, looked at pic one and though "that needs blacker blacks and whiter whites", and then b****r me you did it down the page - so now, I have no crit at all :(

A lovely match to a lovely poem. I prefer the second version of the photograph. i felt the first one appeared to sort of muddyish. (sorry, not very well up on me proper photographic terms:lol:)

A very good start! Both good and I particularly like your "poem" shot. I prefer the first one, though, as the softer light suits the subject better and there is more mystery about it...

I had a quick trip to London yesterday, and scooped this little girl chasing the pidgeons in Trafalgar square

Great shot, shame she way moving away from the camera rather than towards

thanks for the comment :)

I know what you mean....

but I didn't want her parents thinking I was a weirdo
