Honl Heavy Frost?

I recently bought the Honl Colour Effects kit and I've been really enjoying experimenting with coloured flash.

Here's my question though - What's the 'heavy frost' gel for?

I guess you're right but it's not exactly clear from their website is it!

I've had a pretty good search now but can't find a definitive answer.

I think its just a diffusion gel, I have one on my lee filters gel sample but never used it

Frost softens the edges of the light creating a diffuse effect - it's available in a wide variety of strengths and combined with colours.

Buying little scraps in these filter kits is a very expensive way to buy it! You can buy sheets of colour from a theatre lighting supplier - or try the swatch books Rosco and Lee give away free.
