Hey,

Thinking of planning a second honeymoon to Thailand soon..any advice on what islands to stay on etc? We dn't want anything commercial and getting well confused!!

Koh Samui was OK and not overly commercialised apart from Chaweng which was a bit like a mini Blackpool. We stayed in Bo Phut and it was a nice little village, but you've still got hotels & restaurants along the beach, albeit posher ones (we went on our 1st honeymoon in Jan :D)

Hi

We did a Thailand tour in January stayed Bangkok 3 nights, Chaing Mai 3 nights 8 nights Cha Am, its an amazing country absolutely beautiful as are the people, and really cheap, eg, a pork and veg/ noodle meal was 45p,and that's with complimentary fruit as well, we did loads of sightseeing, it was none stop but we did see a lot, never been to any of the Islands so cant help there, but we are defiantly thinking of going back, youll love it

I went to Thailand in 2004 and returned a few weeks before the Tsunami struck  It really is a beautiful place. I went with my best friend and we visited Bangkok (highly recommended), Phuket and Phi Phi. The resort we stayed at during our time at Phi Phi was ideal for honeymooning couples - it was quite secluded and very couple orientated. In fact, we felt a little 'odd' being there, and kept getting funny looks from all the couples there as we were the only same sex people there together  More info HERE A trip to 'the beach' where the famous movie was filmed is well worthwhile too. The only thing I will say about my time at Phi Phi was that there was no escape from the resort. If you wanted to go anywhere, you had to go via speedboat as there were no roads from the resort to anywhere.
I wasn't too keen on Phuket as I found that a little too commercialised. I would return to Bangkok tomorrow if I could. Although it's a major city and full of hustle & bustle, it is well worth a visit!

its difficult to get the balance of a non-commercial resort. That will mean you may not have all the facilities you want. I stayed in Thailand for 9 months and then returned last year for a further two.

There are some out of the way resorts past Hellfire Pass?

What type of holiday do you want? beach, trekking, a mixture. Koh Chang near the Cambodian border is nice and a popular place with thais.

Let me know if you want any specifics

PM if you want
