Is a polite way of putting it.

Ordered garden furniture 3 weeks ago, they said they could deliver today and wife chose a 12-6 slot as she could get back and work from home for a few hours. Bit of juggling with childcare and school run but ok.

Get a call this morning from driver at 8 saying he will be there before 11 to deliver????? We say no as no-one will be in till 12.

Spend ages (again) on hold to customer services and they promise a call back... 3 hours later I call up as nothing heard.

They then say they cant deliver today now, and then say it 3-5 days for a refund... So am absolutely fuming to say the least. Sorry, you took my money 3 weeks ago and have failed on your promise so I expect it back same day... its not difficult.

Pain to deal with too, wife was on hold for 20+ mins yesterday!

If you are thinking of getting something delivered from Homebase - DONT!!!

Try an email to the CEO - address here.

If I am not satisfied, I use this website to get CEO address and email them. They probably don't know what bad service to offered.

Ask for compensation for loss of Wife's earnings.

I'd never use Homebase as I am a tradesman.
Their prices are unbelievable and so many of their products are not of good quality.

I have to source products for customers so from experience I see the see these things on a daily basis.

I'm not a tradesman but I very rarely step into Homebase for those exact reasons ;) (Only real exception is when I actually need Crown Paint - nobody else seems to sell it...). Screwfix and Toolstation sell me most stuff or recommend good places to go.

Trouble is they had a nice set which was fairly unique, especially at the price we saw.

Sent an email to the head honcho. We all make mistakes but it's how they are dealt with that is the real issue here.

Like most companies feeling the pinch, they've cut down on staff so it takes longer to get things done.
The staff who are left are over worked and are not paid enough to care very much about your problems.
The delivery company will be a courier or some other 3rd party who's driver is under pressure to complete a run and doesn't get paid enough to care very much about your problems.

Its pretty much standard, no much how much anyone messes you around, oh well here is your money back in a few days. The rest is tough.

This is a trend at the moment - so best thing to do is avoid buying stock that is not available to just take away!

Had a similar scenario last week. My wife ordered a set of rattan furniture from Wayfair. The delivery date wasn't specified, we were just given a two week window. Just as we were about to go out at 10.30 one day my wife got a text saying the delivery was coming that day, between 12 - 3 pm but we could rearrange it by ringing the courier.
Wife calls the number (charged at 13p a minute) to rearrange the delivery for the next day. We get home in the evening to find out our neighbour has taken the delivery in for us! To be fair Wayfair have credited us with some money to compensate for the inconvenience and the cost of the call to the courier.

Worse though, two of the chairs were completely smashed: it seriously looked like an elephant had sat on them! Wayfair have arranged to send us four new chairs, even though two are fine. "Just dispose of the others yourself". Amazing. How much money must they be losing on this?

These things are annoying, but they happen. Why did you cancel the order and ask for a refund if you really liked the furniture? Couldn't you have asked them to reschedule the delivery and negotiated a discount or some other compensation for the inconvenience?

Yeah that's the thing. Just occasionally they have stuff you want at a decent price.

Is there any obvious reason they couldn't have left it outside? I mean, it's garden furniture.... :)

To be fair to Homebase, its not their fault it take 3-5 days to process a refund on a card. Thats the way debit/credit cards work

Have garden furniture from M&S after two years the paint came away from the chairs in one piece . Took some with me to store was told to contact Customer Service @ address given sent sample and photographs and was told that due to the fact I had covered it during the winter rather than storing it indoors they would do nothing for me. Wrote to CEO again sent photographs and paint pieces was told this should be expected if kept outdoors! How the furniture knew the difference between summer rain and winter rain and when to rust I do not understand?

See, now i feel a teeny bit bad, money in my account today. But its the principle of it, they have had my £600 for almost 3 weeks and they messed up, I should get my money back immediately. I know refunds are probably different but it takes minutes to transfer money these days. But in response to Martyn too, the apology was very insincere and no attempt made to right the wrong,
