I have a home studio set up, which is great, but my only problem is with the floor. I have a long train from the background, but the trouble is that it creases like mad, especially with kids running all over it. I was thinking about some white perspex or something, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

In my old studio I used sheets of 4ft x 8ft MDF from B&Q. Painted one side White Egg Shall and the other side Floor Black Matt. No creases, suitable for bith high and low key, and if it got any scuff marks on it, a quick wipe over and it was like new again.
 
I sometimes use a white sheepskin rug (ok a fake one!), it adds a little interest, keeps the paper nice and good for sitting or lying down shots too.
 
I got a sheet of transparent perspex, seems okay until finances allow better!

Here's a quick example, lighting was stuck up quickly and not great and the model was grumpy, but it demonstrates the perspex!

Did I see you say somewhere you got it from Homebase? Might have to pop along and have a look to see what they have as I can't see anything on their website
 
zack arias swears by shiny white kitchen tiles if I remember correctly, put together seamlessly, as they provide a good, hard flooring, that is also slightly reflective :)

its just finding them as cheap as they are out there!

perspex is agod idea but again prices aren't that cheap.

Id like to see the mdf version
 
after reading this thread I bought a 2m x 3m piece of 3mm acrylic for £95 delivered, it does a great job, really pleased with the effect

I've been looking for vinyl tiles for a few weeks now. 12 x 12 and the only ones I can firnd are in the US :thinking:
 
Does the perspex not reflect the flash from the keylight back up into the subjects face a bit??


although i still might get some and try!! I will put it on top of the white sheet i have on the floor.
