Home studio advice

I have just got planning permission for a outbuilding in my back garden, that I will use as a home studio. It will measure 6m x4.5m x2.5m to the eaves. I had been planning on building a brick/block building but have recently been looking at log cabins around the same size.
The major advantage for considering a log cabin type building would be the cost. Approx £5000 against £10-12,000. I know that there are some of you that use a log cabin as a studio and wonder if you can list any disadvantages, and if you had the chance would you prefer a brick building?
I have seen a log cabin at a local manufacturer that has the internal walls fitted with plasterboard and plastered and once inside you wouldn't know the difference. Obviously electricity will be installed this will allow convector type radiators to be used when required. Do wooden buildings retain heat better or worse than brick?
Any views or advice would be welcomed.

Hi Nick, I had a normal shed which I insulated with roof insulation and then cladded and that was quite good. A log cabin would probably be better than my shed. Only downside is my friend has a log cabin and it does tend to have the odd gap appearing in it where the timber is expanding and contracting due to the weather, but his isn't insulated or cladded.
To be honest i think whatever you build it out of it will not be totally draught proof.

Do wooden buildings retain heat better or worse than brick?

Well the thermal conductivity of wood, brick and concrete blocks are,
Wood - 0.15 W/mK
Brick - 1.3 W/mK
Concrete block - 1.7 W/mK
These are just approximate values as it really will depend on the type of wood, brick or block too.

So it looks like wood is much better than insulating heat than the others, however I'd imagine that those light building blocks with lots of air bubbles in them would be somewhere in the middle
