Hi

Unfortunately, My meagre budget doesn't stretch (or even begin to stretch) to studio lighting and accesories. So.... i decided it would be a good idea to make some of my own. Now OBVIOUSLY it won't be as good as pro stuff. Thats fine. I just need a start point. So.....
If anyone can help me AT ALL, i would be massively thankful.
I need to know the brightness (in lumens) of some basic studio lights.

I need to think of a suitable way of making mini-softboxes. (i.e. a foot square or less)

I can buy and wire conventional bulbs etc and can use MDF, Plywood, plastic tubing, and quite advanced machinery etc.... All my lighting has to go through a single plug, so if the current gets too high i'll be needing a new fuse.... ANY help will be appreciated, however large or small.

thanks

Hak

Try www.strobist.com They seem to be the guys for DIY lighting.

It can get pretty heavy reading at times so if you are unsure ask on the strobist forum.

Thanks Tiler thats great. I checked out the site looks really useful! Any other tips anyone?

Hi

I used an old 2X2.6" box and cut-out windows then stuck some muslin (white paper will do) where I had cut-out,leave the flaps at the top of the box as I found this useful to shoot down on the subject.

I wanted to make a light table rather than pay £100 + so I went to BQ and bought a decorators table that folds in two with a handle 3'X3' long.I have removed the hardboard from the top and have bought (not arrived yet)white perspex that I shall cut and fit as my new top, this way I can get some under light working.

Hope this help
