hi guys, right i am going to attemp to make a soft box

was wondering if anyone has any tips or has anyone done this previous to my attempt

i have just been and bought a cheap lapmshade from b&q for £4

my theory is to line the inside with tin foil. i was then going to make some sort of bracket to attach it to the speedlight and then put a kind of tracing paper over the front

is there any reason for this not to work

appreciate any tips/tricks or if this is jst not possible haha

I think the hardest part will be mounting your speedlight to be honest, there are many ways and guides floating around the net for DIY softboxes. depending on how much your going to spend, you can grab a speedlight adapter of fleabay for around £20-30.

right guys, i have made it and it is an awesome. Although i am new to this and haven't used a proper softbox, i think the results are exactly what i am looking for

i will add shots when i have some time

thanks for the input though guys

a seperate flash with a gel lit the background

hope you like it apart from the shadow on the face from the cat

Love the green

Looks like the softbox is a bit small. 80-100cm is a good size for portraits (but on the big side for a lampshade!).

Needs a reflector to soften the shadows and get some light under the peak.
