Home-made 914mm super telephoto lens

I see he painted it white, was that to make it look more like a Canon and less like a cannon?

I think it has been posted before. But, no worries. Its still an amazing project

I very much enjoyed reading that, some really interesting engineering there!

I think its a brilliant project and it must have been fun!

At the end of it all, it may have been better to combine something like a Sigma 300 F/2.8 with a 2xTC and put the whole lot on a 1.6crop camera - giving an effective focal length of 960mm @ F/5.6 it wouldn't have been as cool but might be useful for more than long distance buildings.

But wheres the fun in that?

Oh I completely agree, no fun at all :gag:

I was just musing over how a usable 1000mm lens is actually within many peoples reach, scary enough in itself!

Bet they had fun making that, would dread to think of the weight of it ***.

Very interesting ,in the middle of making a 900 f2.8 in ma sheddy :D
