I played with the Raynox M250 today, with my Canon EOS 500D kit lens (18-55mm), and was really impressed.
I thought I'd try it with my new Canon 55-250mm zoom lens out of interest. Couldn't get it to focus so switched it to manual and just moved closer. WOW!! :eek:
It's like looking through a microsope! Watch that DOF though (what DOF!).
Just thought I'd share. Consider this a recommendation!

I agree completely, have you tried setting to min focus distance on the 55-250 at 250mm... You get in noticeably closer.

What were you shooting with it ?
 
You can get quite impressive results sellotaping a nifty fifty backwards on the end of a 55-250 :)
