Yes
Bit far in Advance but I'm going to Rhodes for the 5th time next September. This will be my first time with a DSLR so want to utilize it.

Wondering what lenses out of my current three I should take or a do it all lens.

Currently have the 18-55 kit lens, Sigma 55-200 and Canon 50mm. Body a 1100d. Should I take all these three or chop the two zooms for one lens?

An 18-55, 55-200 and a fast prime is what most people would consider a good travel set.

I have virtually the same 3 lenses but Nikon. (Tamron 17-50, nikon 55-200, Nikon 50mm1.8) I took all 3 on my holidays (also to Greece) this year but didnt even take the 55-200 out of my bag.

Thinking of Bunning the Sigma 55 200 for a 18 -200. Tamron. Wise or not so?

Superzooms are always a compromise, some people accept the limitations and are happy with the results, others can't live with the (typically) softer images and/or distortion/CA.

I don't really know much about your lenses so can't say if it will be better or worse.

Unless your holiday is a proper photo taking holiday (be it on a organised trip or by yourself), convenience and low weight has got to be the order of the day. Especially if you have a partner going with you who gets bored senseless of you taking pics!

We are going to Mexico next Feb, I'm consider either buying a cheap 24-1xx zoom that I can sell on afterwards or renting a 28-300 for the trip to go with my D610 and a 50 1.8.

I gave up umming and ahing over whether a 28-300 would be good enough on my D610 and just bought one to try for myself and I have to say it is a fantastic lens, I will be taking it to Vietnam in a few weeks with just a 50mm.

It has its foibles (focus breathing is insane) but it is way sharper than I expected (sharper than my 70-300VR, my previous lens of choice), VR is excellent and it even works OK with a x1.4 TC, which is a bonus!

Take your smartphone and buy some postcards while you're there ;)

Interesting to know. I have 4 months to think about it but it's good to hear some real world experience of the 28-300 on a D610 - I do like the idea of just taking that & a 50 1.8 but wondered if the 28-300 would be good enough. But hey I am going to sit on the beach alot and drink the all inclusive bar dry, not go on a photographic voyage of Cancun! lol.

At this rate @StewartR will be seeing the colour of my money!
