My name is Michelle, but I liked to be called Shel!

I was just wondering if someone can answer a question for me please? I would like to get into wedding and portrait photography, but I'm not sure if you do require any qualifications?

Hi Shel and welcome to TP.

Stand by for some very informed replies from experienced wedding photographers. Some will have qualifications and some will have lots of experience. Some will have both.

The straight answer to your question is no, you dont need qualifications. What you do need is a whole bunch of stuff including equipment, talent, perseverence, business acumen, time, dedication, sense of humour, man management skills and I could go on, but others will put more meat on the bones I'm sure.

Unfortunately not, but I have managed to sell some work, which I'm hoping will get bigger.

Trying to understand. What exactly you mean "get into wedding and portrait photography"? You want to do it professionally or? Please clarify. Tell a little bit more about yourself. Again, i am new here as well. But who require official qualification?

No probs about the advice Shel, only too pleased to be of what help I can

I take macro, wildlife, sports and some lanscape. The pics I have sold have all been wakeboarding pics.
