Hitech 10 Stop - Light Leakage

Got a chance to use my 85mm Hitech 10 stop filter last weekend for the first time and had some issues with light leakage.

I've got the Hitech filter with the gasket but i'm using it in a cokin holder (along with an ND Grad).

The only way i could stop the light leakage was to put a slot-in polariser in the the cokin holder and then the 10-stop.

I did manage to get a few OK shots but it was all a bit of a faf to be honest.

Is the Cokin holder unsuitable for this filter?

What do you recommend?

I carry microfibre towels, mainly for drying kit in wet weather, they also make ideal darkcloths for covering filters.

Is that the 'normal' way of doing this, wrapping the filters with a cloth to stop light leakage?

Well I guess there is no 'normal' when you have a mix of manufacturers. I've not used the combo you have but it looks like they are not full compatible 'out of the box'. The cloth is an easy solution, but you could use whatever suits your specific needs.
