Highlight portrait advice needed

I'm taking some pictures tomorrow for a friend - mum, dad, and three kids. They want to send some out with Christmas cards, so I'm thinking high key lighting. I'm thinking a softbox to the front, on the same plane as the lens and another one lighting the white background, does that sound ok ? I have 2 x 200W Lencarta lamps w/softboxes but no snoots (out of stock !)

Any better ideas for lighting a group like this ?

on axis fill can look nice, but only if there is a hard key light

got a speedlight knocking around?

Yes, got an SB-600 - what are you thinking ?

David is right. You could use the speedlite on the back ground and free up your other light as a fill.

On white paper or Vinyl, even a Lastolite Hi-Lite you will need 2 lights either side to light the bg. Or you will have post work to do in CS.
