Can I take high res photos of a model aeroplane so they can be published in a magazine with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ25

Any help on this greatly appreciated, thank you

Assuming this isn't some form of joke post?!!

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ25 is 12MP (according to google), so will produce 4000x3000 sized pictures - this would normally class as 'hi res', but it depends on what you, or more specifically, what the magazine want.

gut feel says yes it should be fine.

Lol, no Gavin, it's not a joke post. I am a modeller and certainly not a photographer so hence the rather silly question. Thanks for taking the time to look that up for me so you're saying if I give them biggest possible photo ie 12MP , that it should be high enough resolution for them.

If all they have asked you for is a 'high-res' image, yes john, that will be fine... if you're going to be doing close-ups, use the 'macro' mode on the camera, and that will help it focus on the finer detail.

12 Mpx is plenty enough for a full A4 page: 4000 pixels divided by 11.69 inches comes to 342 pixels per inch. 300 dpi is the usual standard for publishing.

I've had pictures taken by both my Canon 5D (12.8 Mpx) and Panasonic G5 (12 Mpx - 4000 x 3000) published in some fairly prestigious architectural magazines.

TBH, though, I suspect they just mean that they're the original photos, not scaled down versions uploaded for web use.
