There are some well above market rate prices for good in the classifieds? Is it bad manners to inform even if you have no intention of buying?

Price pointing is 'discouraged' in the rules for that section of the forum.

There have been a few ads lately where I’ve thought the prices were on the high side. One current ad is asking a third more than you could buy the same thing from MPB…. a bit optimistic to say the least, and you’d get a six month guarantee from MPB too.

Forum rules say it’s not the done thing to point this out. Fair enough. I guess things won’t sell anyway if they’re overpriced.

yeh i guess the silence will sort the matter out
although if the price is p*** poor i think a comment is ok

I'd like to think that if i'd priced something over the market price that someone might message me privately pointing out where the item can be obtained cheaper. It wouldn't bother me (but might bother others). I do have a lens for sale, so if that's one of the items you are talking about then i'm happy to be told.

Haha no its not your lens sir

We discourage the price pointing in sale ads for various reasons, but mainly because it's for potential buyers to decide if the price is too high, not casual observers with no interest in the item. If someone is interested but thinks an item is overpriced, they can always make a cheeky offer and see whether it's worth haggling.

Either as Lindsay say's or if you aren't interested, but just wanting to give the seller a heads-up,
drop them a PM.
