High performance GPU

I need a new graphics card and for some software I need the best performing GPU I can get.

But I don't in any way care about gaming, and all the graphics cards just go on and on about gaming.

So what benchmark do I look for for GPU performance? And how important is memory on the card?

Any recommendations without spending a fortune?

Depending on the software you need it for you might be better with a workstation card. They are often used for modelling software in engineering like civil 3D and revit. Model wise the ones I have used in the past have always been nvidia quadros

Might help if you mention what software you want to use or you are using.
Some software are better than other at efficiently using discrete graphics and some of them just just up silly amounts of RAM and cause bottlenecks

Most/all such software will list their specs including GPU minimum, recommended, optimum specs......do what does each of the softwares you mention have to say on the subject???

But note that there's a world-wide shortage of graphics cards at the moment and the etailers have very little of anything in stock. You might get lucky if, as keeweeman suggests, a Quadro is what you need but there's not much else on the shelves and s/h prices are getting silly.
