Hi. Recently taken some sports shots under floodlights. Just wondering which noise reduction software your using and is it easy enough to use. Thanks in advance, Paul
 
I think I downloaded that before. Does it come up under filters in photoshop???

That's impressive! Just downloaded it as a result of your mention. Very easy to use, and good results on the few tests I've done. Only drawbacks (and I may be missing something - only had it for five minutes) are that you have to apply the alteration to see what it's going to do - no preview - and it takes the file down to 90%, which could be a problem.

But really, best free thing I've bought in a long time. Cheers, Phil! :thumbs:

photoshop- dust/scratches then resize.. if still bad more dust scratches then sharpen :)

BTW nothing wrong wiht a bit of noise from a night match.. its to be expected... if you do too much noise reduction you can end up wiht plastic looking players..

Easy-peasy. Just render the shot with maximum NR, superimpose as a new layer over the original, reduce opacity until it looks OK.

Simples.

I mean, you probably only shoot about 1,000 shots of each match - shouldn't take long! :D

I use it when i need to when submitting shots to my library. All go through and in with no questions re IQ. No probs glad to be able to help.
 
Thanks for all the advice. Much appreciated. I shall have a play with them later.

Canon 1D Mkiv Peter. Was an awful night with howling winds and pouring down. They're not too bad but just wanted to know how I could get rid of the noise thats on them. It was the first time I had shot under floodlights and they werent the best. ;)

Well I have the 1Ds Mk II and I've been able to get reasonable results at 3200 ISO and 1 stop underexposed so equivalent to 6400.

Can also get results at 2 stops underexposed but it's struggling then!

I use Neat Image and I create my own profiles and for high ISO (3200) usually put them through twice.

With these test shots I first used DPP and set the NR to 10 Chrominance before putting them through Neat Image.

Incidentally I shoot in JPEGs converted to TIFFs for all editing.
