Just like to say hi and say a little about myself. I come from Nuneaton which apparently is the furthest point from the coast in th UK. I have had 1 or 2 hobbies through my time but I have always been interested in photography. I remember years ago when I had a point and shoot and developing black and white photos in my airing cupboard. Another intrest I have is in Malawi cichlids and it is this intrest that pushed me into getting my first and only proper (ish) camera a canon eos300D. Here is one of my fish pictures took with it

A couple of weeks ago I came across a blog featuring my local pool (seeswood pool) which stated that 180 birds have been spotted there, so one morning off I went with my binoculars and my canon (with a cheap 75 - 300mm lens and a 2 x converter) to try and spot and take some pics, I could not believe how difficult it was. After a couple of visits I took these photo's

I have been saving up for a new camera (the canon 50D) but after seeing how blurred these turned out I decided on a new lens first the Canon 400 f5.6 Not sure whether I have made the right decision but so far I am happy at what I did (im going back down the pool tomorrow to test it - we will see :) ) so I thought I best join a forum to get the best out of my equipment and learn a bit more whilst I save for my new camera
