Thought I'd introduce myself - just joined but I've been lurking for a little while.
I'm still very much an amature at this photo lark but I've been doing it for a while and love the combination of creativity and technical knowledge that goes into a great shot. My particular favourite techniques are fairly experimental macro and lightpainting/long exposure but I'm working on improving my portraiture (Strobist's site is a great encouragement).
Hopefully get involved soon!
Current setup is:
Canon 400D with Canon 50 f1.8 prime, Canon 17-55mm kit lens, Sigma 55-200mm f4-5.6 and a Canon 70-300mm f4-5.6. Also got a Kenko teleconverter and a full set of extension tubes.
Flash is a Jessops 360AFD which is ok for me at the moment - it's a 36 index with full swivel and an optical slave mode. An old Olympus serves as for background white-out. Rather than buy lighting stands I've got some useful ball-joints which screw onto the larger thread of my microphone stands - dual use!
All stored in a Lowepro AW200 bag which I love since I can just swivel it around and get to my gear when I need it.
I've got a nice Chinese copy of the battery grip (with some interesting timer functions that allow time-lapse)
