Hi all,

I am new to this forum, having found it by accident!

I have always had an interest in photography, but have only ever 'snapped' away.

I have just enrolled on a GCSE photography course to learn more about photography & camera's so I am looking forward to that.

I am going to borrow my Dads camera a Sony A290 until I can afford one of my own, and was thinking of the Canon 600d? Does anyone have any other recommendations for a complete novice?

I have never used a DSLR before, and so this is all very new to me. No doubt I will be on this forum a lot, so please forgive any really stupid/naive questions!

I am based in Hampshire, right in the middle of the New Forest so I have lots of great places to shoot.

Any tips or advice for a complete greeny??

Hi Sam and :welcome: to TP. You've found a friendly, helpful forum so dive right in!

Before you decide on your new DSLR, I'd recommend you to do some reading and searching here, maybe ask some questions in the Talk Equipment sub-forum, then strongly advise you to go into a camera shop to handle a few bodies and see which ones you like the feel of. Read as much as you can, but then go and handle the bodies before you decide.

This is the place to be for your new venture into photography. If you have a look in the tutorials section, you'll find masses in there to get you started. You could also take part in the monthly competition, it will get you thinking and trying new thing - May well compliment your studies :thumbs:
