Hi Key shots with speedlights + HiLite

Does anyone know if you could use a 580ex II in conjunction with a Lastolite HiLite background for Hi Key Portraits?

The setup would basically be one 580ex ii to the left of the camera and a second pointing into the HiLite to light the background.

Would the 580exs be powerful enough to do this?

It might work but would limit you to very wide apertures as the Hilite will swallow a fair it of the light from the 580 at a guess. Blasting at full power will probably give you long recycle times too.
