Hi Chaps,

I've only just registered here after a good few recommendations from AV Forums and a few of the car forums.

I've just got the Canon EOS 400D + Kit Lens and a Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Lens.

However, i have found with the Sigma lens between 200 - 300mm it’s very hard to get a steady shot. Would have the Canon 70-300mm IS lens made a difference as i am still thinking about getting that one.

I've just upgraded to a DSLR after a recent trip to Le Mans, Where my little Sony (DSC-N1) wasn't quite up to the job.

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andy :) welcome to the forums.

The IS in the Canon lens name means it has image stabilization which will help you get a steadier shot at 300mm. The Sigma is also very soft up towards 300mm so that doesn't help a slightly shakey shot look any better :(

Hi Andy and welcome
I can't speak for the sigma, but I had the 70-300 IS and it was a cracking lens, nice and sharp, I wish I hadn't sold it, the only problem I found with it was tha autofocus could be a little slow.

Hi and welcome

I had the same problem with the Sigma lens, I have just bought the Nikon 70-300 VR to replace it, great lens
