Before I start posting and replying to other threads I figured it would be best if I introduced myself. I'm James and I live near Birmingham in the West Midlands(UK).
I first got interested in cameras & photography when I was about 15 and ready to leave school. I booked myself onto a college based Media course and soon picked Photography as one of my main subjects. I bought myself a 35mm SLR about half way through the term which was a Nikon F55 Kit wih a couple of lenses. That camera served me real well whilst learning. Nice simple SLR but with a couple of usefull modern tweeks. I then realised how much I loved film and started buying a few various older film cameras such as a Pentax SuperME SLR, original and brilliant Lomo LC-A (rather than the new built ones), EXA 11b and a few other various Lomo type's.
I realised I needed to move with the times and had to have digital in my life so after finishing college I invested in a Canon 350d SLR with the old kit lens. Cool camera and was perfect for what I wanted/budget could afford and lasted me a long time.
Time goes on and now I'm 23 I wanted a digital camera with a bit more "oooo & ahhhh", so I went mad and bought a Canon 5d mkii. This camera is incredible and I have loved every second of owning it. My main two lenses so far are the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM prime and the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM.
The 70-200mm is mostly used for the motorsport stuff I shoot, which is predominantly Drifting and the prime for pretty much everything else! I'd love a nice wide angle lens, but funds say otherwise.
I also bought an amazing Mamiya M645 1000s Medium format camera after finally deciding to get my arse in gear and try out 120 film! I've always loved the look & feel of 120 but never got round to trying it, so I'm currently experimenting with that.
I've rambled too much...So i'll leave it at that. Look forward to browsing the forums anyways.
James.
