If you like metal recycling facilities and questionable feeder canals..

Hi, I’m Hugh

Very much what you’d call a novice, by which I mean I know what I’m doing, have been taking photos for about 7 years, yet I bought a used x100v in summer of 2020 and I’m still to hit 10k on the shutter count. I’m very much someone who takes an intentional photo, else I don’t bother. Doesn’t mean I get many great photos come time for review, but I don’t vibe with the idea of flipping a screen out at hip level and just walking around town spraying and praying.

My other cameras are an x10, and an FX30 with a 16-55 F2.8 G, and 14mm F1.8 (perfectly good stills camera if used within its limitations) and currently in the market for a Q3.

Welcome Hugh. You should find plenty to interest you on the site, and we look forward to you joining in discussions and sharing some images sometimes - and maybe joining in one or more of our challenges as a way of getting you using your cameras more often and deliberately!

Thanks for the welcome. Just here to learn. 6 hour drive yesterday and I’ve got my q3. Feel like a brat; it’s worth more than my car! Heck, the batteries are worth more than my car! Perhaps I’ll share some photos at some point. Crippling social anxiety, photos are for me.

If you ever see some guy walking around the woods in circles with an fx30 or a GoPro, don’t worry too much, just some guy with a proven track record of not finding a single oyster mushroom. Lovely neck of the woods though! Love taking the dog up there!
 
Hey Hugh, welcome! Sounds like you’ve got a solid approach—intentional shots definitely pay off in the long run. I’ve heard great things about the x100v, it’s been on my radar for a while. Curious to see what you end up capturing with the Q3 when you get it! And hey, nothing wrong with appreciating some metal recycling facilities and questionable canals—they make for some interesting shots!
