Hello everyone!

I've joined to learn from here. I recently realised how interested I was in photography after going through my iPhone & camera, realising how many pictures I took of buildings, beaches, flowers, sunsets and similar stuff.

I wanted to make it more of a hobby, but using a better camera. I'm only interested in landscapes and sceneries. Nothing at night in the dark nor will movement be involved. Also something I don't have to carry around - I hate bulky things. What sort of camera do you guys recommend?

Hi Sanjeev and welcome. You have come to the right place to learn. This forum has taught me so much. There are some really great people here.

I noticed that you have your interest picked out. That's great but keep an open mind. I started out with landscapes and still enjoy shooting them but have moved on to so many other subjects that I thought I would of never had an interest in. I think that's what makes Photography so much fun, endless opportunities to learn, grow and better your skills.

As far as starter cameras go, I started out with a Canon T3i or also know as a 600D. I really loved that camera for landscapes because it had a fold out view screen. That made it easy to set the camera very low and see what was going on.

There are some factors that you will need to consider before buying a dslr (if that's what you want). The first thing that you need to know is what is your price range. When you know that you can narrow down the type of cameras you can afford. There are many great entry level cameras out there but if you want to save some money you may consider going with a proven model that might not be the latest edition. For instance, if the T3i is still available it might be considerably cheaper then the T5i that replaced it yet it is still a very good camera. Sure there will be some options that come with the later model but do they really matter. I would think not but to each is own.

I will leave you with this. Once you figure out a price range make a new post in the equipment section. "Need advise on first camera" and in the body section put down you price and what you like to shoot.

Absolutely, if you have a look through the equipment section there are lots of body discussions there which may give you some help.

Best advice I can give is to try them out yourself and see which feels the nicer to you to use, which menu system feels the best, which buttons are in the most logical place for you etc etc. Do you have any family or friends that use cameras - which do they use, do you like them etc...

If you set down a list of things you want it to do, would like to do etc and go from there, also don't forget your budget and a lens is also needed, along with a memory card etc.
