Hi everyone, I've just bought myself a Canon 400D as an introduction into DSLR photography. I now need to make my journey along that never ending learning curve
I have made a start by getting stuck into the manual, which in itself is very strange for me as I usually do the typical male thing of trying to guess how things work and never use the majority of features available as a result.
The forum has already provided me with many hours of entertainment reading through the posts and picking up all sorts of tips along the way and with a bit of luck I might actually have an idea of what to do with my new toy soon.

Hello

Whenever you are just playing around learning... use Av mode and even sometimes M - you will learn much quicker. You can always go back to auto if you need a shot and are not yet confident of controlling the camera yourself. Once you know what you are doing you won't go back to auto modes.

Thanks for all the welcomes everybody, and I will be playing with the manual settings as advised. That's the beauty of digital, it doesn't cost you any money to play around compared to buying films and getting them developed.
