I am not a total 'newbie', and I might have done this before. Thing is, when I enrolled on the Forum, I had only been here a week or so, when health issues raised their heads. Both me and the Missus. Not complaining you understand, just explaining!
So photography and lot's of other things took a back seat. Besides it's difficult to go roaming among the kind of scenery I like to shoot, with 'shot knees'! Still they promised to fit me with new knees, with a warning not to go anywhere near scrapyards and magnetic cranes!
I still wait for that, but I am ever the optimist and I just had a Pentax K200d for my 70th. Quite a good deal from shopping around. You'll gather I am waiting now to get in some shooting. It's my first proper DSLR, having used a Nikon Compact 5400 up until now. I don't know if the extra 5 mill. pixels will be of much use, but I surely like the feel of this camera. And with the shakes setting in, the anti-shake feature is a real bonus. Just made for us oldies!
