Hi guys,
Thought I'd get my postcount off to a great start by creating myself a hello thread.
My name is Matt, I'm 25, from Bradford, W Yorks and I work in IT.
I've always been interested in photography but I always found with my digital compacts that I could never capture what I wanted in the pictures - I wanted to be able to capture exactly what I could see and was always left disappointed when I got back to the PC.
I recently purchased a Canon EOS 350d and have started to take shots with that, I gave my old Sony cybershot compact to my wife who had a go with my canon when we went to chester zoo last week, needless to say she immediately saw the difference and now has a 350d of her own too, so she'll probably sign herself up here at some point too.
As you can maybe tell from my nickname, I'm an avid Star Wars fan.
I've got a gallery on my website which has pretty much every photo I've taken on there, only the later albums have the stuff from the canon though obviously. I've also got a photoblog which I try to update at least every few days depending on what photos I've taken recently.
For me, photography is the chance to express myself and provide me with a hobby that doesn't involve sitting in front of the PC, although with photoshop and post processing it remains linked to it (I can't completely get away from it
) I was never any good at drawing and my handwriting is terrible, photography seems to allow me to capture things that look good (in my opinion) and it makes me feel good.
So once again, Hello, and I'm sure I'll be talking to you all soon, feel free to have a look at my gallery and photoblog and comment/whatever. All but one of the photos I've taken are without postprocessing, one of the lioness shots on the photoblog I ran through a USM but apart from that I'm in the process of reading through various magazines and books before I try and enhance the photos. I bought the Adobe Photoshop CS2 for photographers book from amazon which seemed like a really good purchase.
Talk to you all soon
