Never belonged to a forum before and using it was nearly as scary as my new dslr.
I used to love photography and had a Pentax MeSuper slr. What with marriage and children, apart from taking thousands of pictures (snaps really) of them as babies I sort of forgot about it. Then, my daughters were given digital compacts as Christmas presents a couple of years ago. I picked one up and started playing with it and my heart actually started to beat faster!! So, first I got a lovely little Nikon coolpix. Wow, it was so great being able to take loads of pictures, load them on to the pc and edit all in a day. Then I wanted more zoom and got the Olympus SP-500, great combined with my new hobby of hiking in the Yorkshire Dales.
Now, thanks to the generosity of my nearest and dearest I am the proud owner of a Nikon D40. I can't wait to tell you all how I get on and show you some pics (if I can work out how) since you seem like such a friendly bunch.

Welcome! Plenty of friendly people here, so no need to be scared
