I've just registered here, and would like to say hello to everyone.

I am retired and back living in Cornwall, which is very photogenic, but it can rain a lot. I have to dodge out between the showers! I was attracted by the Film Photographer of the Year 2026 and other competitions, because I was running out of ideas for the winter and the themes are great.

I started practising with an old Pentax DSLR. But recently I invested in an Olympus M43 system instead, thinking I might improve with something more modern and lighter. However, an old Canon film camera that I bought for £15 has now become my firm favourite and the Olympus is neglected!

I like to potter around Cornwall and Devon and see what catches my eye, particularly in the natural world, whether large or small scale (macro is fun).

Hi Isy, And welcome aboard TP, looking forward to hearing from you and maybe seeing some of your images on the various forums. "Enjoy"

Welcome to TP. The film thing is a bit more-ish. Like you, the weather at present here in Northern Ireland is not really condi=ucive to togging, but I have three entice film cameras loaded with different films that are crying out to be used, and my various digital outfits too (although my current fave is a 14 year old digital mirrorless Pentax Q).
Go for it.

Hi Isy, Great to see someone else from Cornwall on here.

Love that you’ve come full circle back to film. That seems to happen to a lot of us. There’s something about slowing down with a film camera that just clicks, especially when you’re pottering about and letting things catch your eye naturally.

Best of luck with Film Photographer of the Year 2026. Looking forward to seeing what you share on the forum.

Hi and welcome to the forum, enjoy :)

I to am lucky enough to live in Cornwall. And I am about to switch back to MFT.

Thanks for your welcome, Roger. I bought an Olympus E-M10 that was on special offer and it is doing a good job. However, I have recently been wishing I had bought
an OM-5 instead, because of the weather sealing!

Welcome :)

You are very lucky indeed to live in one off if not my fave place in the UK ! Even though its a 6 hour drive I still try to get to Cornwall 2 or 3 times a year...

Was in St Mawes a few weeks ago and the weather was very kind !
