I'm new to the forum... and pretty new at photography in general. I've always liked taking photos, especially close-up shots of bugs and things... and recently got a Canon 550D. I still need to read the manual and learn all about the settings and things, but it's been fun experimenting in the mean time ;)

I'm glad you're enjoying your new hobby and if you need some help getting to grips with your new camera, we have a very helpful Talk Basics section for any specific question you might have.
If you like close up shots of bugs and things, you're also going to find tons of inspiration and some help on your own photos in the Macro sub forum.

We're a friendly lot with plenty of willing helpers on hand, so I look forward to seeing your posts around the forum.
 
I bought my first dslr a little over a year ago 600d (just about the same as yours) and didn't know a thing about photography. I came here and started asking a ton of questions and I think I am now a pretty okay photographer. It's all thanks to the wonderful members here. They taught me photography from the ground up. There are so many knowledgeable people here, they really do have all the answers and are so happy to help. Welcome and don't be shy ask away. P.S. as mentioned, talk basics is a great place to start.
