Hello ladies and gents, another new guy on the forum. My name is Carl and I look forward to enjoying the knowledge and advice available. :)

First of all let me make one thing clear, I am a complete novice. :help:

I have had an old Sony Cybershot for some years, point and click at its best.

Yesterday my Canon 350D was aquired and now I am hungry for knowledge.

I have only the basic kit - no extra lenses, filters etc.

So, the journey starts - be gentle with me, I may well ask alot of questions. :bang:

friendly folks here so you should be fine to ask questions :)

(I am a noobie myself mind :p)

As for the basic kit don't worry for now, it isn't the camera which makes the photographer ;)

I need to stop thinking of add-ons and just get to know the camera itself first!!! :lol: :lol:

I have been lurking around this site and seen some quality photo's.

I started out with a point and shoot Cybershot and then upgraded to a 350D with just the kit lens.

The best advice I was given was to get into manual ASAP then shot lots of the same thing with different settings (I think I used one of our coffee mugs!) and that way you'll quickly learn what has an effect on what.

I think I only used the programme modes for about a week and now my camera lives in 'M' :thumbs:

But above all.....HAVE FUN :D

Strangely enough I'm in exactly the same boat as you, and in Liverpool. Got me a 350D and still haven't ventured out of the Auto modes! Where about are you in Liverpool?

I am actually living in Colchester, Essex Ryan. Only a visitor to Liverpool now. :D

Usually the West Derby area is my landing place. :thumbs:
