Hi all this is the 1st forum for photography I've signed up to. I'm 28 and live in portsmouth I've currently had my camera for around 5 years now and never really used it always wanted to but not really sure how I've took it on holidays and to car shows. myself and my wife are expecting our 1st baby in February and I thought this would be a great time to start using me camera properly so thought I would sign up to hear to get as muchildren advice and help to make me a better photographer in a way not quite sure how good my camera is tho but I did take some OK shots on firework night well I think there OK and I was about 0.7 miles away. would love to learn a new skill and hope I've come to the right place for this. also editing photos to a great standard if people do this like I say I'm new and looking for help and advice.

Perhaps you should consider joining your local photography club, you can get hands on help there, lots of helpful people here though (y)

Gutted I missed the supermoon last night I think I got my camera set up for it and then went out and nothing :(
 
Could anyone recommend me a good guide online or on hear for complete novice that would be awesome.
 
Hi Jean all I have to say is congratulations on your new baby and this is a perfect time to start learning about photography- my advice right now is to shoot shoot shoot practice practice practice in addition to getting as much help as you can from online forums resources etc. I wish I started when my kids were younger I really don't have very many images of my first child- you can even practice with your cell phone or any sort of point and shoot -lighting and composition a lot factors in to what composes a good image other than just the equipment- sorry about the lack of punctuation and grammar etc. (Siri is not always the best secretary lol)- feel free to ask I am an open book and can recommend plenty of online resources for new parents especially

Hi gene! Welcome! I'm from porrsmouth! Where abouts are you? There are several good clubs around the area if you tell me your area!.....
 
Ah well you have hayling camera club or Havant have a good one! I was in the Gosport club which I liked! There is a Chichester one and I helped start one in Fareham library ! There is one in porchester too but is a waiting list for that one
 
I also have a friend in Havant ! (Bedhampton) who does studio type workshops and stuff with lighting in Havant!
