Hi all. Very new to photography, I literally know nothing apart from how use the auto mode! Lol!

Thought I would sign up and read some posts with a view to learn. Hopefully I can be educated.

I have just purchased a Nikon J1 which is possibly going to annoy many of you. I hear that the concept of this camera isn't something that real photography fans buy into but it fits my beginner status nicely and does everything I want it to for now.

Anyway, hello!!

Hi Matt, welcome to TP. Your purchase of a J1 should annoy no-one. A photographer uses what ever they can or need. If it does what you need, then it's right for you. You will find all the informaton and help you need here. There are some outstanding photographers here, so you might be inspired to get out of auto mode in a while. Enjoy.

Thanks for the welcome chaps. I have just whipped up a really quick website/photoblog ( http://di-jit-al.weebly.com ). Pop over and have a look. So far I have taken only a few photos all in auto mode and uploaded a couple to the site
