My names Marcus as you might guess.

I'm a complete novice, i am waiting to order my new camera, as i have been working with a Olympus FE-140 and that has just gone down on me, any ideas of kit i should get myself to start with? i have had varied opinions about Canon's, Nixons, lenses, and flash guns. I have between £500-600 to spend on a camera,

any help would be appreciated :)

There are lots of threads here about what to get... do a search...

Seems to be both Canon and Nikon are on a par some good some bad points both sides.
Soo get one that:
A) suits your budget
B) fits your hand(s) best
C) dont blow all the money on the body, lenses are much more important in getting the shot... so you need to think what you are going to be shooting and lean that way when buying
 
welcome marcus, My advice on your intended purchase would be, dont be hasty and do some good research on your type of photography and the gear needed and go for the best that you can afford, this may save a premature upgrade.

I agree with OG on your choice of camera, go down to your local camera shop & try out the cameras within your budget to see which you like the look & feel of before making any decisions (:canon: ) :lol:

Don't forget Olympus! You can get an great camera with a couple of lenses for 500 quid.
