hi guys!!
just found this site...and hoping it will be the answer to my prayers:)
basically, i love taking pics..and if i had my time over would of loved to have done it as a career:help: however i ended up with a more conventional career path:'(
ive decided i really want to do some kind of photography course...but there are so many options...and price brackets that im totally confused:shrug:
im looking to start at the beginning..... im always the one snapping away on nights out etc, but know very little about the technical side of things.... lens, shutter speeds, or anything else you can think of!!! where do i begin???:(
i can only do evening/weekend or ou courses...... and im based in the ever sunny glasgow.......:lol:
any advice you could give or courses you could reccomend would be much appreciated!!!! :)

thanks

hello tullalah

Most courses are going to be of some use to you if you want to start on page one and none of them can be any better than the person teaching them.

I reckon your best bet is to go and see places that run courses near you and choose one based on how you like the tutor and which fits best into your life.

How you will really learn is by doing and it's more important to have your passion fed and questions answered than the specific curriculum of any one course over another. :)

I couldn't agree more - try to do some research - these courses vary so much and some can be pretty poor. A guy I used to work with did an evening course at the local tech, and after the first darkroom session he was left in charge of the other students, while the pro getting paid for the job was lambing off doing his own thing elsewhere. He completed the full 3 year course and got whatever certificate it was, but he'd be the first to tell you, he didn't feel confident in his knowledge or abilities at all.

Of course, even with the better courses, you'll only get out of it what you're prepared to put in.

Good luck.
