Help :(

I found a good deal on a apple MacBook Air m1 16gb with 512 storage I can use external drives for more space I spent just over a thousand I couldn’t really go any higher I’m sure it will do for a while at-least thanks for the help everyone.
Enjoy, should last you a while that (y)

A M1 Macbook will be fine for image editing.

However, while 8Gb RAM may be okay, I would stump up the bit extra and get 16Gb

....and I'm with @snerkler on this one. Buy cheap, buy twice. A good Macbook will likely last you 10 years before it needs replacing. They can't be upgraded like PC's so spend a bit more now to make sure you have a spec that will see you through.

Even if you don't continue with photography the Macbook will have other uses and they hold their value fairly well.

Wow :(

Not sure how I have narrow minded views when I stated that what I said was just my opinion and that others may not agree with it, suggests I'm pretty open to other ideas imo but of course you're entitled to interpret it whichever way you like.

I have not discussed whether or not the OP will take up photography long term or not, just discussed computer options as per the topic of the thread. I'm happy that the OP is capable themselves of deciding whether this is a good option, and/or whether it's a long term investment for them (y)
I never said narrow minded. ;)

And whether the OP takes to photography seriously is the absolute pivotal point upon which your advice to spend a large amount of money is pertinent .

If the OP seriously takes to photography, your advice pays off.

If not- you just encouraged a stranger to set fire to £1000

Sounds perfect. Enjoy it.

I haven’t encouraged anyone to do anything. The OP has come on wanting to buy a computer and asking for advice on spec, and that’s what I gave. It’s then up to them whether they buy it or not , it’s their choice. It’s not my place to tell them what to do, or make assumptions on what they may or may not do in the future.
