Yes
Merry Christmas everyone.

My new nifty fifty won't come off the body. It's rotating, however not enough. Then clicks Babcock into place. Am putting moderate force through it, but with no result

I wouldn't force it too much, best to take it into a repair centre, they can remove it without doing any damage, if you force it you may well snap something inside.

Don't force it! I had a similar issue with a 16-35. I did use force and it ended up frying the camera and breaking the lens. Damage was about £1000.

Anyone know of a repair shop in Wakefield area??

You could try Dales in the Merrion Center in Leeds . I've never used them but it may worth a shot .

At an educated guess the plastic mount on the nifty has broken hence it won't unlock for you :( Definately recommend using a repair centre and hope the lens is ok for you :)

I've had this, for me it turned out to be one of the little lens screws on that butting surface had slowly unwound until eventually it projected out enough to stop the full undo rotation.. My mate spotted this, so by opening a crack at the juntion because of the loose screw with a little gentle flexing, he managed to pull the screw back and away from the junction a tiny fraction and the lens turned off as normal.

Do you have any movement?

Obvious first, are you pressing the lens release button hard enough? Is the lens release button blocked somehow?

No problems with release button, and yes getting fair bit of movement/rotation

Bit of an update. Took camera and lens to Argos. Manager told me to go get it removed/fixed and they would foot the bill. Impressed with that.

Bit cautious mind, as lens us under warranty, whereas body isn't

Yeah, and customer service superior to Likes of Jessops

can highly recommend Dale Photographic in the Merrion centre, they did a great job of my 40D

Hi Liz, yeah I will be going there today again!!

Hope you manage to get it sorted out and removed safely

I presume the lens was new from Argos then ?

Was indeed Andy. Just waiting for the top lads at Dale to sort it

Keep us up to date, hope they manage to get the lens off okay and hope Argos fulfil there promise to you and be interested to know why it stuck on ?

I certainly will, they said its a common thing with these lenses. I googled it and there is a fair bit about it

Job done, lens and camera saved. And argos paid the cost. Happy days

Excellent news - did they say why it got stuck ?

Would be good to know for reference , was there anything maintenance wise we could all do to prevent this failure ?
Glad you got yours sorted though . Top service from Argos .

Tiny bit of plastic broke, can't remember name, which then was jamming. Goes on and comes off fine now.
