I've been asked to provide a quote for shooting a wedding the details are as follows:

1.30pm - 5pm, to include the bride arriving through to the cutting of the cake. Preferably formal shots only. Approx 30 prints plus CD-ROM.

Now I'm not sure what would be a sensible quote. The wedding isn't too long so I'm reckoning that something in the £400-500 bracket seems reasonable. What do you reckon?

You're best to do the cutting the cake shot as a posed affair before the meal. It was usually the last shot I took in fact before I was outa there. :D

By the time they get round to the actual cake cutting, people have been at the bar and start to develop eyes like Rotweillers from Hell. With the blokes particularly ties and jackets tend to start getting discarded too long before then.;)

That seems a reasonable price - but work out what your actual overheads are and the time you're going to spend in processing. In the early days it pays to keep your prices down a little IMO till you start to get some experience and develop a word of mouth reputation.

I want to come in at a reasonably cheap price, but still not under-selling myself. Processing for 30 6x4s or 7x5s won't be too much and that's the only material cost. For my own time, I will spend quite a long time post-processing but I don't mind that at this stage as I'd rather squeeze as much as I can from each photo and it's also a great learning experience for me.

£450 sounds about right to me, I reckon that's what I might go with.

Other opinions welcomed!
